After more than 20 years, Keratec-Heatware Warenhandelsges. mbH is handing over the general agency for the infrared heaters manufactured in the UK by Tansun Limited. Under the leadership of the current managing director Thomas Koch, Tansun has become a key player in outdoor gastronomy over the past decade. Especially during the pandemic, many hospitality businesses were able to continue their outdoor operations in winter thanks to this technology.
From 01.01.2024, the Tansun general agency will be taken over by TEL GmbH (Tansun Europe, Leichlingen) at the same address, Moltkestraße 25 in Leichlingen. The managing director of TEL GmbH is Florian Kolken, who previously worked at Weinor (sun protection/terrace roofs) and as a division manager at a laboratory equipment supplier.
The terrace business, both in the private and hospitality sectors, will continue to be supported. At the same time, the commercial and industrial sector is gaining increasing importance. The energy transition in Germany means that certain work areas in halls or semi-open spaces are no longer fully heated with gas at enormous energy expense, but locally with shortwave infrared technology.
Advantages of shortwave infrared technology
-
Efficient heating: Shortwave infrared heaters primarily warm surfaces in the "light cone," not the air. Similar to a lunch break in the sun during winter sports, it feels warm even though the air temperature is still cold. Individual areas can thus be heated selectively without having to warm the entire air volume.
-
Rapid warmth: No warm-up time is needed. It is already warm within seconds, so preheating is unnecessary.
-
CO2-neutral operation: CO2-neutral operation is possible in combination with an appropriate power supply. Gas-powered alternatives can only compete here if hydrogen is used. However, energy losses of 20% to 40% occur during production, and part of our hydrogen demand is imported from sources where ESG issues are not a high priority.
Tansun introduced this type of hall heating with the Apollo series 40 years ago, but the technology was temporarily displaced by very cheap fossil gas. This is now changing radically. In the coming years, we will specifically address this field and actively promote the awareness of shortwave infrared technology in workplace heating.
We look forward to the new challenges and warmly welcome you to our trade fairs, our premises, or on-site in your hall.
