After more than 20 years, Keratec-Heatware Warenhandelsges. mbH is handing over the general agency for the infrared heaters manufactured in the United Kingdom by Tansun Limited. Under the leadership of current Managing Director Thomas Koch, Tansun has become an established name in outdoor hospitality over the past decade. Especially during the pandemic, many hospitality businesses were able to continue their outdoor operations in winter thanks to this technology.
As of 01/01/2024, the Tansun general agency will be taken over by TEL GmbH (Tansun Europe, Leichlingen) at the same address, Moltkestraße 25 in Leichlingen. The Managing Director of TEL GmbH is Florian Kolken, who previously worked at Weinor (sun protection/terrace roofs) and as a division manager at a laboratory equipment supplier.
The terrace business, both in the private and hospitality sectors, will continue to be promoted. At the same time, the commercial and industrial sectors are becoming increasingly important. Germany’s energy transition means that certain work areas in halls or semi-open spaces are no longer heated entirely with gas at enormous energy costs, but locally with short-wave infrared technology.
Advantages of short-wave infrared technology

Efficient heating: Short-wave infrared heaters primarily heat surfaces within the “light cone”, rather than the air. Much like taking a lunch break in the sun while enjoying winter sports, it feels warm even though the air temperature is still cold. This allows individual areas to be heated selectively without having to heat the entire volume of air.

Instant heat: No warm-up time is required. It is already warm within a few seconds, so preheating is not necessary.

CO2-neutral operation: CO2-neutral operation is possible when combined with an appropriate electricity supply. Gas-powered alternatives can only compete if hydrogen is used. However, energy losses of 20% to 40% occur during its production, and some of our hydrogen requirements are imported from sources where ESG issues are not high on the agenda.
Tansun introduced this type of hall heating with the Apollo series 40 years ago, but the technology was subsequently displaced by very cheap fossil gas. This is now changing radically. In the coming years, we will specifically focus on this field and actively promote awareness of short-wave infrared technology for workplace heating.
