Infrared heating at the workplace: TEL Forza for industry, retail, and commerce

Efficient workplace heating for industry, retail, and commerce: The TEL Forza series provides targeted warmth for workstations, packing tables, order-picking stations, workshop workstations, and salesrooms. Instant heat with no preheating time, ideal for shift operation, frequently opened doors, and changing workstation layouts. TEL Forza is the in-house-developed series from TEL GmbH (Temperatur Experten Leichlingen), available directly from stock in Leichlingen.

How do I calculate the correct heating output for a workstation?

Basic rule: Infrared heaters at the workplace heat only the required area, not the entire hall or room. As a guideline for cold winter days, use approx. 0.2 kW per m² of work area.

Power Heating area at approx. 0.2 kW/m² Typical application Suitable TEL Forza model
1.5 to 2.0 kW up to approx. 10 m² work area Individual workstation, smaller packing tables, consultation area Forza Single
3.0 kW up to approx. 15 m² work area Larger packing tables, order-picking stations, checkout areas Forza Double
2.5 kW (medium-wave) up to approx. 12 m² work area Workstations with reflective surfaces, showrooms, light-sensitive areas Forza Carbon Single

Note: During transitional periods or with less intensive use, a lower power output is usually sufficient. A wireless dimmer allows the power output to be adjusted continuously or in stages to match the actual conditions.

You can find the current prices on the respective product page. All models are suitable for both wall mounting and vertical ceiling mounting, are extremely durable, and are designed for continuous operation, for example, over 8 hours a day in shift operation. For larger work areas or multiple workstations, the more powerful models in the TEL Forza series are also suitable, such as Forza Triple or Forza Sexta.

Typical workplace applications

Order-picking table, packing table, desk in the hall, workstations at the warehouse entrance, workshop, checkout area, consultation area, salesroom, showroom, and workstations for machine and system operators.

Mobile solution with no installation required: TEL patio heater stand

A mobile solution is particularly worthwhile for workplaces with changing layouts, sales areas without a fixed mounting option, or temporary requirements. The TEL heater stand quickly brings two infrared heaters to any desired location without installation work. It is height-adjustable from 140 to 240 cm and has a footprint of 550 x 550 mm. Both heaters can be switched individually and controlled flexibly via a convenient switch box.

For partially covered or weather-exposed sales and reception areas, a weather-resistant version with IP55-protected heaters is also available. You can find the current prices for the individual versions on the respective product page.

Control systems for the workplace

Dimmers for TEL heaters enable demand-based heat regulation directly at the workplace and help save energy when it is not needed. All dimmers are suitable for continuous commercial use.

Wireless dimmer Maximum controlled load Control Protection rating
2.0 kW wireless dimmer 2.0 kW 4 levels: 33% / 50% / 66% / 100% as well as ON/OFF IP 65
3.4 kW wireless dimmer 3.4 kW Stepless, incl. timer function (15/30 minutes via DIP switch) IP 54

Operation is carried out via a 4-channel wireless remote control for step switching, a 42-channel remote control for stepless dimming in up to 6 groups (range approx. 20 m), or via a standard wired push button directly at the workplace. The integrated timer function of the 3.4 kW dimmer is also suitable for work areas where the heating should switch off automatically after a fixed period. You can find the current prices on the respective product page.

Recommended mounting heights for workplaces

Model Mounting at an angle of approx. 45° Vertical mounting
Forza Single 1.5 / 2.0 kW 2.0 to 2.5 m 3,0 m
Forza Double 3.0 kW 3.0 to 3.5 m 4,0 m
Forza Carbon Single 2.5 kW 2.5 to 3.0 m 4.0 to 5.0 m

Why short-wave infrared technology is more economical in the workplace

  • Instant heat: No warm-up time; the heaters are ready for use within a few seconds, making them ideal at the start of a shift or for changing workstations.
  • Targeted rather than area-wide: Only the work area actually in use is heated, not the entire warehouse or room.
  • Draft-free: The heating itself creates no air movement, making it suitable for workstations where drafts are disruptive.
  • Flexible positioning: Adaptable to changing workstation layouts, especially in combination with the TEL infrared heater stand.
  • Maintenance-free: No regular maintenance required; the heating elements can be replaced if necessary.

Applications in Industry, Retail, and Commercial Businesses

Industry and Skilled Trades

Workshop workstations, workstations at warehouse doors, assembly workstations, and workstations for machine and system operators benefit from targeted, immediately available heat without disruptive air movement.

Logistics and Order Picking

Picking tables, packing tables, and workstations in goods-inward areas can be heated efficiently, even when loading bay doors are frequently opened for goods handling.

Retail, Sales, and Showrooms

Checkout areas, consultation areas, salesrooms, and showrooms can be heated comfortably and selectively without the high heating costs of heating the entire space. The Forza Carbon version is particularly suitable for areas with reflective surfaces or when a more discreet, less visible glow from the infrared heaters is desired.

Frequently asked questions about infrared heating in the workplace

Can I dim the heating while working?

Yes, the TEL wireless dimmers allow the heating output to be adjusted in several levels or continuously, depending on the selected dimmer model.

Does infrared heating interfere with precision work?

The infrared heaters do not generate air movement themselves, as they use radiant heat rather than warm air. This can be beneficial for tasks where drafts would be disruptive.

How quickly does the workstation warm up?

The infrared heaters are ready for use within a few seconds, so there is no warm-up time as with conventional heating systems.

Does it also work when loading bay doors are open?

Yes, because the heat is transferred directly to people and work surfaces rather than through the room air. This is particularly suitable for workstations at goods-inward areas or in logistics zones.

Can multiple workstations be controlled separately?

Yes, each infrared heater can be controlled individually using its own dimmer and switch or remote control, allowing different workstations to be regulated independently.
