Adiabatic cooling systems for halls: An energy-efficient alternative to air conditioning

Workshops, warehouses, and production areas heat up quickly in summer, while conventional air conditioning is often expensive to purchase and operate. Our mobile adiabatic cooling systems from the OKM range reduce room temperature by up to around 10°C, depending on conditions, entirely without refrigerants. The units are mobile on casters and can be operated either via a water tank or a permanent connection.

How adiabatic cooling works

Warm indoor air is passed through water-saturated cooling pads. As the water evaporates, the air draws heat from its surroundings and leaves the unit noticeably cooled, though with a slight increase in humidity of around 2 to 5 percent. Since no refrigerants or closed cooling circuit are required, power consumption is significantly lower than that of a conventional air-conditioning system.

Adiabatic cooling compared with conventional air conditioning

Criterion Adiabatic cooling (OKM) Conventional air conditioning
Refrigerant None required Required, subject to maintenance and reporting requirements
Installation Mobile, ready for immediate use, optional permanent connection Usually requires permanent installation with piping
Power consumption Low, as only the fan and pump need to be powered Significantly higher due to compressor operation
Humidity Slightly increased due to evaporation Usually reduced
Mobility On casters, can be moved flexibly around the building Stationary
Ideal for Large, well-ventilated halls and workshops Smaller, enclosed rooms with high cooling requirements

Our OKM models at a glance

From small workshops to large production halls, we offer suitable power levels. For all models, one tank filling is designed to last approximately one 8- to 10-hour work shift in continuous operation; a permanent connection is optionally available for continuous operation over multiple shifts.

Model Airflow Area Power consumption Tank capacity Noise level
OKM 05 5,000 m³/h approx. 50 m² on request 90 l 53 to 63 dB
OKM 12 12,000 m³/h 80 to 150 m² 500 W 70 l 54 to 63 dB
OKM 22 22,000 m³/h 150 to 250 m² 750 W 130 l under 70 dB
OKM 30 30,000 m³/h 200 to 400 m² 1,110 W 200 l under 70 dB
OKM 48 48,000 m³/h up to approx. 600 m² 1,200 W 350 l 73 to 78 dB

For particularly large halls, we recommend our most powerful model, the OKM 48, with a range of up to 600 m². The unit also features an integrated UV lamp to reduce microorganisms in the water, automatic refilling via a float valve, and a corrosion-resistant, UV-stabilized plastic housing.

Applications

Our OKM cooling systems are suitable for workshops, warehouses, logistics centers, production and assembly halls, as well as marquee halls and event tents, sports halls, garages and temporary work areas.

Maintenance and water hygiene

Since our cooling systems use a water tank, regular cleaning is important. Without proper care, biofilm, limescale deposits, odors and microorganisms can form in the water circuit. For maintenance, we recommend our probiotic cleaning and care concentrate. It combines conventional cleaning action with beneficial microorganisms that sustainably colonize the cooler surfaces, thereby providing protection against renewed microbial contamination for several days, without disassembling the unit.

Model Tank size Dosage
OKM 12 70 l 50 ml
OKM 22 130 l 100 ml
OKM 30 280 l 200 ml
OKM 48 350 l approx. 175 to 350 ml

As a general guideline, use approximately 0.5 to 1 ml of concentrate per liter of tank volume; for heavy soiling, the amount can be doubled.

Unsure whether a model is suitable for your hall? We offer a one-month trial rental with no obligation, and the rental costs are credited toward the purchase price if you subsequently buy the unit.

Frequently asked questions about adiabatic cooling systems

How much can the room temperature be reduced?

Depending on the outside temperature, humidity and hall size, the temperature can be reduced by up to around 10°C.

Does the cooling increase the humidity in the room?

Yes, the evaporation process increases the humidity by approximately 2 to 5 percent.

How long does one tank filling last?

For our models, one tank filling is designed to last approximately one 8- to 10-hour work shift in continuous operation. For continuous multi-shift operation, a permanent water connection is optionally available.

How often does the unit need to be cleaned?

We recommend regular cleaning with our probiotic care concentrate, which is applied directly via the water tank without disassembly and provides protection against biofilm, limescale and odors for several days.

Can I test a model before purchasing?

Yes, we offer a one-month trial rental with no obligation, which is credited toward the purchase price if you subsequently buy the unit.

Is a refrigerant required for operation?

No, our OKM cooling systems work exclusively with water and evaporation, completely without refrigerants and the associated maintenance and reporting obligations.
